Qualifications: Master of Speech Pathology Studies, University of Queensland, 2012.
As a speech pathologist, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with many great families. I enjoy working with a diverse range of children and believe that families play a pivotal role in therapy. Prior to joining the Boost team, I gained invaluable experience working with children from 2-17 years who presented with a range of speech, language and literacy difficulties. These include children with articulation, phonology, language and/or literacy difficulties, stuttering, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Williams syndrome and Traumatic Brain Injury.
Over time, I have developed a special interest in the area of literacy. I continually seek to build on my skills and endeavor to continue to gain knowledge about the most recent therapy techniques. I enjoy providing evidence-based therapy that is individualised, flexible and fun!
Kristin holds certifications in the following therapy programs and techniques, but uses a combination of modern, research-based approaches when working with children, to suit each individual’s needs:
- Hanen – It Takes Two to Talk Program for young children with language delays or who are late to talk and understand.
- Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Level 1 – for people who have difficulty communicating with spoken words.
- The Lidcombe Program – for early childhood stuttering.
- PROMPT – for speech production disorders.
